Thursday Day of Adoration

Image of Monstrance

Image of Monstrance

Eucharistic adoration, in which the Blessed Sacrament is exposed and adored by the faithful, has been practiced weekly in St. Mary Church for the past year.  On Thursday mornings, following the 8:00 a.m. Mass, the monstrance, containing a consecrated Host, is placed on the altar for all to see and adore.  Traditionally, parishioners are invited to sign up for a period of adoration throughout the day to make sure that someone is always present to adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

Adoration closes with the Rosary and Benediction (where a priest blesses the congregation with the Eucharist) on Thursday evenings at 8:00.

All are invited and encouraged to join in the saying of the Rosary, which will be offered for a different intention each week of the month: week one, for the families of Platteville; week two, for vocations to the Priesthood and religious life and for the students of UW-Platteville; week three, for the poor who are suffering, especially the elderly and the sick (people may send names to be put on a list); week four, for those who have died in abortion; and, week five, for the Bishop.  Following the Rosary, Father will bless all in attendance with the Blessed Sacrament in the monstrance during Benediction.  Is there a more worthwhile way to spend a half-hour on Thursday evening than in prayer and adoration?
