On Wednesday evening, September 26, 2012, our Religious Education teachers gathered for an inservice meeting in preparation for the new year of religious education for our children. During the meeting, Father Faustino asked the teachers to sign an oath promising to teach and defend the doctrines of the Catholic Church. Father explained to the teachers that the oath was developed in consultation with Bishop Morlino and other diocesan officials. The Bishop and Father agreed this oath is a perfect way to start the new Catechetical year in conjunction with the start of the Year of Faith (beginning on October 11 as declared by Pope Benedict XVI).
The oath specifically details many of the beliefs that are to be taught and upheld (click link below to see complete oath). After reading and explaining the oath to the teachers, Father distributed copies to each Catechist for them to sign. The first Religious Education class is scheduled for Wednesday, October 17.
